What is your question?
Car will not go into first in drive, need to rev it(floor it) multiple(~7) times before it will lurch forward. Will rev up to awfully high (~6k) before slamming into, as in the rpms aren't synchronized with the wheels, second. Never ran it fast enough to force it into third. Apologies for the hazy details, secondhand account from the guy I got it from.
How long has your 2000 Chevrolet Impala had this problem?
Hadn't been drove since the guy drove it home.

Hi! This is Bo with Car Genius at RepairPal! This sounds like a classic transmission issue to me! It could be caused by low transmission fluid levels, a faulty transmission solenoid, or internal transmission wear. Start by checking the transmission fluid level and condition. If it's low or dirty and smells burnt, consider flushing and refilling it with fresh fluid. If the fluid level is normal, have the transmission solenoids and overall transmission health checked by a qualified mechanic. There's a possibility you may be able to find a salvaged one for a good price or one of our shops to rebuild it! If you have any other questions feel free to call us at 877-913-1554! We'll be happy to find you a certified RepairPal shop in your area!
