What could cause my 08 HHR to no accelerate even when applying the gas?

When car has sat for hours, overnight or after working all day. When I first start to drive, coming to a stop within maybe a minute or two after leaving, at a stop light or stop sign, the car will not move even though the gas is being applied. RPM's are at 2. Then the car may sluggishly move a creeping distant movement or not at all, then all of sudden engage and take off, running perfect from that point on. I can stop, start, park and shut off and restart and not have any further issues. Then after sitting for hours it may or may not do it again. Not a consistent issue, may not happen daily, or it can happen once or twice a day, days in a row or maybe just first thing in the morning. I have had checked for codes and no codes are stored or registered. Mechanics have been driving it randomly and they're unable to diagnose it.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Drives fine once the initial happens.
