Replaced the water pump and thermostat now my car wont shift out of 1st

Replaced the water pump and thermostat. Took car for a ride it wouldn't shift out of first gear and on the dash it said power steering and engine power reduced. Had the codes reset the dash is normal again it now shifts out of first to second then pops right back to first. Switched a couple of fuses under the hood still shifting the same way but now the speedometer and AC is not working

See my first problem is I only had enough money to buy the water pump. Then only lucked out with mechanics because I'm a female but there has been 5 different mechanics that have look at/worked on it. Two of them reset the codes. Also two of them say to just keep driving and the code for the tranny should automatically reset itself. I'm lost and stressed to the max
