How long should the fuel pump run when the ignition switch is first turned on.

What is your question?

When I turn in the switch the pump runs for about 10 seconds. I was told that the pump should run for 2 seconds. If the 2 seconds is correct, should I worry about running 10 seconds. What will cause this.

sounds about right to me that's a little longer than normal pump may be weak goodluck don't worry about it

The van starts and runs OK (but I'd like mileage better than 14 mpg loaded 11 loaded pulling 2 bikes on the trailer.) I understood that the pump run time was controlled by the computer. What would cause it to change?
