I installed a fuel pump in my Chevy express 3500 cutaway for a 35 gallon but I have a 55 gallon fuel tank should this be a problem

After purchasing and installing the pump I noticed it was for a 35 gallon tank now the van will only run for about 5 min and die or as soon as you put it under a load

With tank FULL of fuel - that shouldn’t be a problem.
