Where is the thermostat located and even further, how do you change the thermostat?

Mines did this as well until there wasn't enough coolant in the system anymore. It then overheated and steamed up the entire engine compartment. Ended up being a leaky water pump gasket and not a thermostat. If you are leaking coolant air will get into the cooling system, your water pump won't actually be pumping, and your van will start to overheat. I tried to refill it once it got a little too hot for comfort using the overflow tank and the radiator but it didn't do anything.
