What is the typical life mileage, w/o major repair cost ($2000+) of a 2005 Express van?

This is a very tough question. Depends on how much you can live with. Figure the trans will need to be done which will cost more than 2,000. But the engine could easily go 300,000 miles if maintained. How many miles are you at now? Alex
