This could make it hard for a technician to complete needed testing, duplicating a concern actively so that when resolved it can be proven it's fixed. To answer your question - it's impossible to know if it's acceptable to drive it continually in increments to get to New Jersey without knowing what is wrong with the vehicle. Certainly if the vehicle appears to drive safely with not abnormal symptoms - then I could agree that driving cautiously may be reasonable. Sometimes continuing to drive with a known active concern is detrimental to other components and can make the problem worse. That's where I suggest caution.
