What is your question?
2016 Equinox firing code U0101 stating the car in unable to communicate with the TMC module. Car was purchased used 10 months ago and initially when purchased it stalled out, but after replacing the battery it seemed to run fine for a good bit of time. Then, every so often it would do random things such as jerking or stalling when shifting it into reverse or randomly trying to shift gears while I was driving and then completely stalling. I eventually took it to a transmission specialist to have him look over the transmission but he told me the transmission was perfect. I’m just trying to see if I can possibly narrow down what may be wrong because I’ve known people that experienced a similar issue and eventually got rid of the car due to know one being able to figure out the problem.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Nothing it happened seemingly out of no where.
How long has your 2016 Chevrolet Equinox had this problem?
Several months

Hi, this code is a code related to vehicle networking - not a specifically related to a component failure like the transmission for example. The transmission may be working just fine, but if there are commands and communication issues, then it may cause the erratic behaviour you are experiencing. I would be looking at wiring integrity and connections of components - first and foremost. Has there been any vehicle damage in the past? Damage that has affected wiring that has not been corrected could be causing the concern. Is the 12 volt engine battery fully charged and able to sustain a load? Low battery voltage can cause all kinds of communication issues. Do you notice the problem more after rain? For example, water that leaks into fuse boxes or control modules can cause short circuits that resolve once dried out - but could progressively deteriorate due to corrosion build up. I would recommend checking those items - then even get with a local shop near you to explain what is happening and look towards a solution together. https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link or call us at 877-913-1554.
