What is your question?
I have under 100,000 miles on my 2008 Black Equinox and a huge sheet of paint blew off the top driver's side doors about 6" wide front to back. Now that I'm looking more closely I see the paint bubbling on the other side of the vehicle too. I am seriously upset. I am 53 yrs. old and my wife and I have worked most of our lives. We are both disabled now and live on a fixed income. We don't have the $ for a paint job and this is an obvious factory defect so where do we turn from here?

I have a 2008 equinox and the paint is doing the same thing above rear doors. If any of you have pictures you can send me of your vehicle it would be greatly appreciated. Gm told me they didnt know of any other cases where this happened. The dealership I went to said that gm had a problem with the primer chalking causing the primer to separate from metal and he said is definitely a factory issue. Talked to attorney and he asked me to gather as many pics and people that have the same problems.email. carobert923@gmail.com thanks
My is ding the same thing call me at 256-638-5804 trying to get everone saying the same thing about the paint together so they will have to do a recall.
My husband and I are both disabled and I just haven't had a chance to call you but will try to tomorrow. I finally got an estimate from a reputable body shop here - not a GM dealership, that states the factory sealer is not bonded with the paint & needs to be stripped to the metal and resprayed properly. GM's senior advisor won't return my calls anymore nor will she return the calls from another GM dealership that she told me to call & get them to request a GM Engineer come to the dealership & inspect the vehicle. They sold me this car on the 4th of July and said that was why it was dirty (covered in dust & dirt) because there wasn't anyone there to wash it and wouldn't be until after the holiday weekend. As soon as it was clean and in the sunlight I saw the bubbles and have been dealing with this since then - July 2013. Unbelievable. Their own dealership (not the one I bought mine from) said he's seen the problem a lot and a lot of times it's on 2008 black Equinox. My name is Lisa. If you don't hear from me my cell is 225-772-8097. I believe my dealership defrauded me as well as practicing dirty business. The senior advisor I was given at GM actually told me they hadn't heard anything about the paint issue and that they wouldn't hear about things like that unless people like me called them. Really? Then she said, we don't cover paint anyway. We'll see. In my research I found that in the 90's Ford had to do scientific research and found it was caused by iron particle contamination before the vehicles were primed & painted. They paid for thousands of vehicles to be repainted. Google Claims filed against GM for major paint defect and you will learn a lot. They've known about this s... for years and are offing them to the dealers who off them to the consumers before it starts coming off. Also, there is a 6 year 100,000 mile GM warranty for rust/corrosion but under the Discovery rules of law the time doesn't start running until you can see the problem on an older, beyond warranty, vehicle.
I've got to get my camera back from my daughter and I'll take some photo's and try to send them to you this weekend. I'm in Louisiana and guess I'll have to talk to an attorney too. It's ridiculous for GM to say they don't know of any other cases. I've read post after post from people with the same problem on this site and some have definitely been in contact with GM. I started reading posts beginning with July 14, 2013 from my buddy and there are many people with this same problem, same year, same car.
My paint is doing the same thing. My husband shut the door and a bunch of paint fell off
The GM senior advisor I spoke with told me the same thing: GM hasn't heard anything about a paint problem and would have no way of knowing unless people like me called in and made a report. Then she began telling me GM doesn't cover paint problems and that I had no way of proving it was a factory defect because anything could have happened once it left the factory. I told her that with today's technology I really didn't think it would be a problem to find out what caused the paint issue. She said my dealership would have to request a GM engineer to determine what the problem was. I said just tell me where & when and I'll be there. I've left several messages & she won't return my calls now.
