What is your question?
My 2008 Chevy Equinox Sport wont take any more gas in and the pump was pushed out while I was trying to put more in. The gas gauge says I have less than half a tank. It was below empty when I got to the gas station and now I can’t get it to take in more than 11 gallons. Is it the tank or the gauge that is the problem and how do I fix it?
How long has your 2008 Chevrolet Equinox had this problem?
Two days

Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your vehicle. A problem with the fuel tank venting system could cause the issue with your Equinox. If the vent is clogged or malfunctioning, it can prevent air from escaping as you fill the tank, causing the fuel pump to shut off early. This could explain why the tank seems half-full but won't accept more gas. It's also possible there's an issue with the fuel-sending unit, which is responsible for the gauge reading. A mechanic can inspect the vent system and the fuel gauge sensor to pinpoint the problem.
