Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I’m sorry to hear you're having trouble with your vehicle. It sounds like the anti-theft system in your Equinox is engaging because it no longer recognizes your key correctly after it was removed while driving. To reset the system, try turning the key to the "ON" position without starting the engine and leave it there until the security light stops flashing or turns off. Once the light is steady or off, turn the key off, wait a few seconds, and try starting the engine. This process may need to be repeated a few times to reset the system entirely. If the issue persists, there could be a problem with the key, ignition cylinder, or body control module. These problems can be tricky to diagnose, so it may be best to consult a trusted repair shop to determine the cause. If you need more advice, have any other questions about your vehicle, or would like to get connected to a RepairPal Certified shop near you, we have you covered. Give us a call at 877-913-1554, and we will happily help you out!
