What kind of testing has been done to check your air intake components? Have you checked for an un-metered air leak? A vacuum leak? There are just too many things that can cause your symptoms, and I have to say that the parts you've thrown at it so far aren't on the list of things I'd try first. When someone says they installed a "new ECU" it's clear to me that there's lots of guessing going on -- it's rare that any modern day vehicle needs to have one of those replaced. I do not think the EGR system is the primary source of your problems, but obviously can influence performance and can cause stalling concerns when malfunctioning. Sounds to me that you have other performance issues occurring.
