Hi - Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. P0299 typically illustrates turbocharger issues. P0172 is an engine "lean" code, meaning fuel is not getting to the engine so much but can also be that there is a tremendous amount of air getting in along with your fuel, which could lead to no start and inefficient performance. All that said - I suspect your local repair shop is hot on the trail of an exhaust or air intake or vacuum leak. Sounds like some hands on testing locally will be great! https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link to find some shops near you who can help out!
