Message displayed "AC off due to high engine temperature"

What is your question?

1.8 L engine with 52K miles. Has happened twice in last 2 weeks. Engine temperature gauge reads normal, engine oil and coolant both at recommended levels. Each time after message was displayed I pressed the button to turn off the AC, then turned it back on and the AC seemed to work fine. Can anyone tell me if I have an actual problem? I did some online research about this issue and saw reports of people having multiple sensors replaced for hundreds of $$ and the problem still persisted.

What makes this problem better or worse?

Both times it happened in hot (upper 80's) weather going uphill
