What is your question?
The symptoms I am experiencing are similar to either a bad turbocharger or bad sparkplugs, and when I went to Firestone, they recommended I replace the turbo charger. If I have to replace the turbocharger then the spark plugs are going to need to be replaced anyways. While I do hear any strange knocks in my engine, that doesn't rule out the that it may actually be the turbocharger. However, the same symptoms I am experiencing that are associated with a bad turbocharger, are also correlated to having bad sparkplugs. If it is only the sparkplugs that need to be changed, then the turbocharger can be put on the back burner. I only have 152,197 miles on my car as well. So, it would be time to change the sparkplugs anyways.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Nothing really, it picks and chooses when it wants to accelerate with ease or difficulty.
How long has your 2012 Chevrolet Cruze had this problem?

Hey, my name is Dusty and I'm one of the auto experts with RepairPal's Car Genius team here to help! When it comes to things like this, start with the simple stuff, check your fluids, filters, battery, etc. The recommended interval for spark plug replacement is 97,500 miles, so like you said it's time to replace them anyway. Make sure you're using the right fuel, (this can be found in the owner's manual and usually on the fuel door or fuel cap) fuel quality is critical, especially for turbocharged engines. While it was suggested that the issue could be caused by the turbocharger, it's wise to consider a second opinion given your symptoms (and the potential price tag), it's hard to pinpoint a cause without a proper diagnosis.
