Yes, underboost will cause lean running conditions as the ECM cuts fuel to the engine. For the chevy cruze, the most common cause is a crack in the turbo housing/manifold, and the hotter the weather, the hotter the turbo, so the more boost pressure will leak. Speak with the dealer and see if there is a TSB that will cover the repair, since the turbocharger/manifold combo is over $600, and these turbos have failed many times.
