How long has your 2006 Chevrolet Corvette had this problem?

A couple of years but now it may take 5 minutes before I can take it out of park. I used to be able to get out of park in less than 5 seconds.

A common cause for any vehicle where the shift lever cannot be moved from the locked "park" position is a signal missing from the brake light switch. You may find that you have no functioning brake lights also! The switch or wiring could be at fault; testing is required.
