how to figure out why automatic transmission go into second gear

What is your question?

On takeoff at normal operation it will not go into 2nd gear. Automatic transmission. Doesn't feel like it's slips but won't go into 2nd even manually shifting.

What makes this problem better or worse?

Letting off gas and it goes into third gear not second

Hello, That is probably a shift solenoid issue. The 4L60e is an excellent transmission, but it does loose solenoids from time to time.
