What is your question?
I have the very same issue as "visitor from UT". I have an 06 Chevy Colorado, and there is a sound behind my glove box also. I would say it sounds similar to an old record player and the needle is stuck on a record. I have not checked the coolant level yet, because I just now read this, - but I"m wondering if anyone knows if that was the solution for the Visitor from Utah? If anyone has any answers, ideas or suggestions, I would really appreciate hearing from you. Thank you.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Mine seems to get worse as the truck warms up.
How long has your 2006 Chevrolet Colorado had this problem?
I've had the truck for 6 months and it was doing it when I bought it, but there was a CD stuck in the player, and I really thought that's where the sound was coming from . I was wrong, it's behind the glove box

I would start by removing the glove box for further inspection. This could be a blower motor noise, a broken vent tube, etc. A hands-on inspection is needed. If you prefer to use a shop then use this link to find a good one near you. https://repairpal.com/repair-shops Alex
