Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! If your 2005 Chevy Colorado isn’t moving even after replacing the shifter, it sounds like there may be an internal transmission issue or a clutch problem. Since the shifter lever broke from being jammed, it’s possible that some internal linkage or gears may have been damaged as well. The AR-5 transmission can be sensitive to forced shifts, which can sometimes cause internal components to misalign or even break. Another possibility is the clutch. If it’s worn out or not fully engaging, you won’t get power to the wheels. Testing the clutch pedal feel and checking for any unusual noises or smells can help you narrow it down. You might want to have a pro look at it to assess if it’s the clutch, internal transmission damage, or both.
