Hi - Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. How did the timing jump? This isn't something that would happen if the chain was properly installed, not stretched or worn, and has a tensioner pulley that works properly. If there wasn't a problem that needed to be resolved, you would not have to "realign the chain". So if the crankshaft is at 12 o clock and the cams are seated at 10 o clock and 2 0 clock on a 2010 2.2 Ls interference does that mean I'm actually in correct timing? I originally thought i had to line up the discolored or colored pieces on the timing chain then somebody told me that doesnt matter that if you rotate the engine to TDC on the 1st cilender and your cams are seated to 10 and 2 o clock and the crank is seated to 12 that thats means its in timing im just trying to clarify if its actually in timing or not
I just ask a a machanic he told me don't worry about matching the colored pieces on the chain with the arrows on the cams my question is am I supposed to line up the colored pieces of chain on the camshaft arrows ? Im confused
