turn signal works for right turns but not for left turns. How difficult is it to replace the switch or the entire turn signal arm?

You will be replacing what is called the Multifunction Switch, which has the turn signals, wipers, and some have the headlight functions also built in,if that is what you have determined to be the cause of your T/S problem. The arm that is connected to the multifunction switch and the wiring harness that runs down through the steering column and connected under the dash to a bulk connector, which will need to be unplugged using a 1/4" socket to undo the bulk connector and remove part of the multifunction switch harness that is attached to the connector. You'll need to remove the air bag, then the steering wheel to gain access to the bolts that fasten the switch to the column and the str. column trim panel and kick panel to gain access to the wiring harness that is attached to the switch. If you have the right tools and are familiar with the whole set up you should be able to replace the switch in a couple hours,if not I would not attempt it because the labor hours is around 3-3.5 in the labor manual. I'm a GM Cerified Technician and ASE Certified and it can be done in about an hour. You can email me if you need anymore info about the problem:Email-Thecamerons711@aol.com.
