why when car is running ac blows cold but when idole it blows hot air

Make sure the condenser fan is operating when the a/c is on. The fan is mounted on the radiator. The fan draws air through the condenser but while on the freeway perhaps rush air flowing through the condenser is sufficient to dissipate heat from the condenser.
