Low thumping sound when I turn the wheel???

What is your question?

Only when I am driving (not stationary), my car makes a low thumping or whacking sound when I slightly turn the wheel to either side. As long as I am driving straight, all is quiet, but the sound appears and increases as I turn the steering wheel. It has been doing this about a month.
