My Chevy Cavalier has lost most all power. When you turn the key on there is no dash lights and car doesn't make a sound. But the headlights work when turned on. Starter has been tested.

Needs the charging system checked. Suspect either a bad battery or a failing alternator. If you can jumpstart the vehicle, while running use a voltmeter and touch the black to black and the red to the lead from the alternator. You want a read of 14 volts or higher or the alternator is wearing out. Shut vehicle off and get a read from the battery. Then check again later and if the battery is good, it will still read the same and be well above 12 volts. Good luck!
Thanks. The car has power to the headlights. I'm thinking it might be a short somewhere from the ignition switch to the starter.
