What is your question?
My air pump hose cracked and broke into pieces. I have tried heater hose and it almost caught fire. What kind of hose should I try?

You have more than just a air pump hose problem. I assume you are talking about the hose that connects to the fitting that comes off the exhaust manifold. If that is what you are talking about then you have a bad check valve that the hose connects to. You are not supposed to get exhaust in that hose. Heater hose will work if that check valve is good.
I twice had to replace the check valves, but it set a code those two times. The hose did have lots of carbon buildup all the way through.
Well Rich you are in a state that takes emmissions very seriously. I think you'll have to change those check valves again. You should not have exhaust gases in those hoses.
I'll change them out today. There cheap. Thanks a lot for the help and quick reply.
Well I installed a new check valve and hose. The car smells better and runs better. However after 20 mins of driving I'm getting a lot of knocking, pinging. I have a scanner and can check the fuel trims and kr.
Check your timing, it's to far advanced. What brand scanner are you using? OOPS you can't change timing. Try better gas. Any check engine light on.
I'm just using a predator tuner, scanner. I'm using the stock tune. I will try another brand of gas.
I have a website I use and I saw a lot of complaints about pinging. You cou8ld have this problem. Customer Concern: The engine is pinging. It has no power. No trouble codes stored. Tests/Procedures: Fuel pressure at 46 PSI at idle, and it goes higher on snap throttle. TPS, CTS, MAF, IAT and MAP inputs are all fine. Disconnect the O2 Sensor and check fuel trim values. Try with the O2 Sensor removed or the exhaust disconnected. Potential Causes: Restricted Catalytic Converter Tech Tips: Test fuel trim values after Catalytic Converter replacement to ensure the Catalytic Converter does not fail again.
