What is your question?
Other than the security light coming on, the car runs great. A couple of years ago, I did have to get a major tune up because after the car got to 45 MPH, it would struggle. I have a couple of cosmetic problems, like the top of the console that came off or the sun visors that slid out from extreme heat. My concern is the security light staying on now. I just had the AC fixed and it cost a pretty penny. I don't want anymore problems and I don't want to have spent $593.00 for nothing. Thanks.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Nothing seems to be affected by it.
How long has your 2000 Chevrolet Camaro had this problem?
About a week.

Hello, Does the security light come on and lock out out? Do you have a spare key? Are you able to start and drive the vehicle? What service was performed with the air conditioner? Have you mentioned it to the servicing technician that the issue is now present after repair? Sorry for the 21 questions, I just want to make sure I have the whole situation with the vehicle.
I have a spare key but it didn't lock me out. It starts and drives perfectly. The entire AC system stopped working. I would turn it on. It would make noise but wouldn't blow out any cool air, heat and no way to clear a foggy window on cool, rainy days. Nothing. The mechanic had to pretty much do an overhaul on the AC system. He replaced the damaged parts, had to use dye for something and add the proper fluids. It costs $593.62, including labor. The AC system works perfectly. The AC now blows out really chilly air. The only thing is that the security light now stays on but doesn't affect the functions. I haven't called the mechanic yet. Maybe I should so he can tell me how to reset it or check it out.
Sure, Great, that's not a bad price for in depth A/C work. Have him scan it with a tech 2 or any scan tool that can communicate with the body control module and VATS. If the VATS systems (antitheft) fails while the vehicle is running, it will let the vehicle continue to start and run. If it fails while the key is out, it will lock you out. It is probably something like the key or ignition switch, but may be a little more in depth. These are also known for a wire breaking or slipping out of the connection on the key lock cylinder. Don't, whatever you do, don't unplug the battery. It will lock you out.
