When I try to get gas I can't get more than few gallons at a time

Does gas gauge work properly? I have the same problem with my 08 Silverado them realised it was only at two different gas stations that are my usual places to buy fuel I took a good look at the pad that I parked on and it was not level it learns towards the pump and the filler neck has a flat or horizontal portion so it would back up and stop the pump. It doesn't take much of a slant to cause this
