What is your question?
I replaced my starter with a rebuilt one 5 months ago. In the last month my car randomly did not start at least 4 different times. By not starting I mean complete silence. I have plenty of power but no connection. I replaced my battery cable connecters and made sure they were tight. Again randomly the car would not start, but when the starter is hit with a hammer, the car starts. Does that mean it is the starter that has gone bad?

The starter solenoid mounted on the starter is just a big electrical relay. If it is failing if hitting the starter makes the engine start then the it is usually the starter solenoid that is failing and it is an integral part of the starter assembly.
