DIAGNOSTIC TESTING CONCLUDED I NEEDED THE SUN SHELL REPLACED,THEY RECOMENDED REBUILDING THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION,DO YOU HAVE TO REBUILD THE WHOLE THING IF ITS JUST THE SUN SHELL.MY FLUID LOOKS GOOD AND IT DRIVES LIKE A CHAMP AFTER SECOND GEAR,BUT NO REVERSE,TO REBUILD THE WHOLE THING,EST. $1600.00,I GOT HALF.

I would suspect that the mileage on your Blazer is well over 100K and with that kind on mileage overhauling the transmission is probably the smart thing to do. The transmission has to come out and partly disassembled anyway to replace the sun shell. The repair shop is also trying to avoid the problems that can result when a transmission is only repaired, not overhauled. The problem is this: You replace only the sun shell now and 11 months from now something else goes wrong with the transmission and you are back in their shop saying that you just fixed my transmission and now it is broken again, and because they have already repaired your transmission once you what the second repair for free!
