I own a 2007 Chevy aveo ls and experiencing this issue as well. There is a gear shift release button that can be pushed in to release the gear. My problem started when my low beam left headlight went out. I replaced it. The light was still out. Last week my instrument panel and gages stopped working and pressing on the brake pedal did not release the gear shift. Long story short, I used a small file to push in the button to release the gear but I couldn't get the key out of the ignition while in park. I ended up replacing the number 10 fuse for the low beam, now both lights work. Turned off lights and the fuse blew again. Replaced it with a number 15. The lights and instrument panel and gages came on but turning on the radio blew the fuse again. Replaced fuse, I removed the fuse for the clock/radio in the fuse box on the driver's side on the dashboard. I was able to remove the key. I have to turn on my lights for the instrument panel and gages to work and I can put my car in gear. Don't know why this is happening. Someone said check and make sure there are no loose connection to my fuse box. It may be my key battery is dead because it wasn't working properly before this madness! I hope this may help! :-)
