how can I fix my trunk closing cable from leaking fluid? there is a hole in it

above the passenger door is a mechanical mechanism that has wore a hole in the trunk closing cable (bad design) that is leaking fluid when closing the trunk. Is there a fix for this or does this cable have to be replace?

Due to the special tools required for the hose retention clips only dealers and specialists usually perform these repairs.
