Alternator belt broke

What is your question?

My alternator went out and the belt broke. I drove the car a few more minutes to get it to a safe zone. Would the belt being broken and the alternator going out cause the car not to run right after replacing the items? The car now acts like it no power and I am afraid to drive it out of the garage.
