CAME HOME FROM WORK, WAS BACKING INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND ENGINE REVED UP TO 4000 RPM. WHEN I PUNCHED THE PEDEL, IT WENT HIGHER AND WOULDN'T DROP.

It may be the idle speed sensor on the side of the throttle body
Yes its the idle air control valve. I had the same problem and replaced the valve and my car has been fine every since.
Would this be the idle air control valve?
