I just bought a 1999 Cadillac Seville STS from a private owner Thursday afternoon. I understand that because I paid for it in cash I have no legal grounds to bring up something against the seller. I asked a friend of mine to take a look at it yesterday, because it wouldn't startup right away and it began dropping to an idle below 500RPM's and sounding like it was about to die. Today it actually died/cut off while I was turning/driving through a busy intersection and I almost ended up in an accident. Later today I noticed the only way to keep it running is to turn on the A/C, but I don't know why and I can''t seem to wrap my head around whats wrong... Please Help!
What could be causing it not to start? (The starter is in perfect shape, as well as the Alternator '14.2 volts')

The fuel gauge isn't working properly, or at least it isn't reading properly also.

THE ENGINE SUCKS! if you realy like it.... be friends with a mechanic, find a pontaic fiero and then you can put a 5.7 chevy /vette motor in your beautifuly bodied caddy!! NOW... IS THERE A AFTERMARKET RADIO? YES... THEN CHECK YOUR E.C.U. OUT NO....? THEN YOU HAVE A SENSOR PROBLEM WITH YOUR EMISSIONS/FUEL DELIVERY. WHEN YOU HIT THE A/C... THE COMPUTER ADJUST THE CAR FOR A LOAD AND INCREASE THE FUEL AND TIMING TO COMPENSATE FOR THE LOAD/DRAG THE A/C COMPRESSOT IS GOING TO PUT ON YOUR ENGINE. BEST BET..... CALL A DEALERSHIP, SPEND THE 100.00-150.00 TO CHECK YOUR CAR OUT AND MAKE SURE THEY WILL APPLY THAT TO COME OFF YOUR BILL IF THEY DO THE WORK! AND HOW LONG IS THE BILL(money you paid)GOOD FOR. BY THE WAY TURN THE KEY FOWARD.(without starting)... DOES ALL THE LIGHTS COM ON? IF NOT ...GET IT HOOKED UP /OR FIXED AND THE ENGINE CODE WILL TELL YOU WHATS WRONG.... CLIFF
It may be turning off for several reasons i would get a diagnostic to see if the car has any trouble codes, the idle control valve or MAF sensor may be causing the car to turn off. The float on the fuel pump may be faulty the only solution for this is taking out the fuel pump and replacing the float.
