Plexiglass security panel in between door panel blocking bolts I need to get to?

Have you ever heard of there being some type of plexiglass security panel in between the door panel and the door on the front drivers side of a 2011 Cadillac Escalade? the outdoor handle broke. Cannot finish the job because the two 10mm bolts I need to get to that hold the door handle on are behind that plexiglass guard. I have seen it in any videos online or in my searches. It was imported from Canada to to Michigan, other than that, there is nothing different about the truck.
