automatic door locks won't open rear hatch

I don't want to seem ungreatful, but I could figure that much. There is no keyhole on this unit that I can find

My apologies then. The owners manual that I could find online showed a picture of the tailgate with a keyhole in it. Can you hear a clicking like the lock is trying to unlock? Start with checking for blown fuses, bad connections and such. The only other thing is to see if you can get enough of the inner panel off to see the lock mechanism. Maybe then you can see if it is just a linkage that has fallen off or the lock solenoid is functioning at all. It may be possible to manually trip the lock and open the tailgate which would make it a lot easier to deal with what ever problem it is.

Did you ever get this figured out? I have the same issue on my 03 Escalade.

I took my 2003 Escalade to my mechanic and he said to squirt WD40 up into the hole underneath the handle of the hatch. This worked for a few months, but it hasn't been working for about 5 months now. Worth a try.

Mine was doing the same thing. Oddly enough, I found that if you start the vehicle or stop and restart the vehicle and hit the all lock/unlock button it will unlock the gate. Good luck
