1996 Cadillac eldorado overheating

That engine is known for blown head gaskets. When you are running the engine from cold, remove the axpoansion tank cap, when it gets warem the coolant may "erupt" like a volcano, thats the easiest way to know. Other ways include exhaust fumes in the coolant, etc. Cost to have the head gaskets replaced exceeds the cost of replacing the engine, since the engine has to come out of the car.

I have a 96 eldorado when i first got it gage was running little over 225 and sometimes hoter i replaced everything no real help so i got line and got some good advice i took thermostat out drilled holes in it so more fluid would flow better also I had put a cooling fan relay on now it stays at nomal temp hope this helps you triump68
