What is your question?
I have a Cadillac 2009 DTS, 55,000 miles. It doesn't seem to provide a " cushiony ride " any more. I feel everything in the streets / roads. How do you know / determine if & when suspension system parts need to be replaced? ( Shocks / Struts - whatever else )

Hello, most technicians who recommend shocks and struts at independent shops and dealerships seem to wait until the part has begun to leak or show physical signs of being broken or worn out. However, aftermarket chains typically as a core part of their business will recommend replacement of shock absorbers as a "performance upgrade" far earlier. The bottom line is -- your car is 10 years old. You apparently have factory installed shock absorbers in the vehicle that are sealed with components that deteriorate by time and mileage. It would improve your ride handling to replace your shock absorbers, but how much -- it is hard to say. It's still a great idea to do it to maintain your vehicle.
