The check engine light indicates that the computer has detected a malfunction in the engine/transmission control system and has diagnostic codes and data stored which would be essential in diagnosing the problem. A technician with a scanner can access the diagnostic codes and data and then be able to give you a diagnosis. You'll probably need a tech with a scanner to clear the code responsible for the check engine light, Although if the problem may be fixed, it may not go out by itself for perhaps a long time.
According to Haynes, this code says Evaporative Emmission system. There is a selenoid located on the throttle body. I recently replaced mine same yr. car. I paid $40 on the Internet. Replacement was easy. But, something as simple as a loose gas cap can trigger this code. Under the car is a charcoal cannister and plastic tubing leading gas fumes into the cannister from the gas tank. When you start the engine these fumes are burned along with the regular air/gas mix. My code was PO443 If you look It up It specifically says selenoid. While, your code is very general?
