What is your question?
I recently paid to have my 2003 Cadillac DeVille diagnosed and the mechanic came back the car needing a intake Plenum Coupling and an EGR valve. I am mechanically inclined and just replaced both. The car does run better, but the new EGR valve was discharging warm exhaust air that could be heard and smelled. The new EGR valve came with a metal gasket vs a paper element gasket, so i assumed it was this creating the leak. i pulled it again, and purchased a paper element gasket and installed it. Still discharging in this area. After further review the discharge appears to be coming from the valve itself were it is attached to its base that has the ears for mounting the valve to the car, as you can see discoloration here from the air and gas exiting. pictures available. is it possible this is a faulty egr valve?
thanks you were correct. I put the old one back on and it did not discharge in this area. I received a defective part. I replaced it and got another and we are now good.
