The third clutch is evidently part of the transmission. I tookit to a transmission shop who told me I would need a new transmission. I know very little about cars but this has something to do with the differential. Thanks you

The third clutch is part of the transmission of your 2002 Cadillac DeVille. Being your DeVille is a front wheel drive car the differential is also part of the transmission. Depending on the warranties involved you may be better off to replace the transmission rather that repairing it. Most rebuilt transmissions have longer warranties that a repair shop will offer on a repair
