What is your question?
Hi, Car has new battery. Doesn’t want to start even after warming up. I turn the key and it doesn’t want to turn over. Usually it starts the second time I try. I’m assuming it’s the starter and don’t want to go anywhere to have it not start with Covid. It occurred to me I should get an idiot message if there is something wrong???? My car is very good about that. Less than 100k miles, no leaks. Could it be something else? Any thoughts? TIA
How long has your 1997 Cadillac DeVille had this problem?

Hello, the starter motor has absolutely no relationship to any warning lights. It may or many not be a starter concern; always start by testing the battery to ensure it is fully charged and able to sustain a load. Good shops have great test equipment for batteries. Additionally, check further your battery cables and all connections - corrosion can cause a voltage / amperage drop as well. A starter motor failure is almost always a "guess" unless you can measure drawn amperage with test equipment. And that can be an expensive guess! So, good luck.
