runs about every third time starting,sometimes it will start after hitting a bump. suspect a loose wire, but where?removed and cleaned plug and contacts on motor,it worked then.drove last night, it didn't work!arrgh!

I had the same issue, replaced my motor, created a rubber gasket for it put in plastic screws, for grounding issues, and now it works all the time, also check your resistor, as well.
my friends car had exact problem and it seemed to be a wire problem but it was the (motor brushes).The two small screws on the motor can b taken off and you will see the brushes. Not sure if they are available but if so they are easy to change. I was able to clean dust off inside of motor and put back together and motor runs
