I have installed a new transmission on my 94 cadillac deville. when car is in reverse lighit dosnt come on. gear cable dosnt seem to be in position. how do I go about getting it to operate normal?

There is an adjustment on the shift cable and the transmission range switch. 1) Block the wheels so the car will not roll. 2) Disconnect the shift cable at the transmission. 3) Manually move the transmission into reverse by moving the lever on the transmission. 4) Turn the ignition on and adjust the transmission range switch. Have a helper look at the reverse lights as you move the switch - try your best to center the switch. 5) Manually shift the transmission into park and make sure the shifter inside the car is in park. The shift cable should line up with the transmission - if not you will need to adjust the cable so it does. Look over the shift cable, there will be an adjusting point which you can release, adjust the cable and reset.
