i wondering if the pcm goes bad is the /vehicle still drivable.

It may or may not be drive able. Most of the better cars have several 'back up' or 'limp home' modes for the PCM to function in while the Service Engine Soon Light is on and the PCM is having problems.
'96 Cadallac seville sts . My trans is limited to P, R N and 2nd gear . It will not auto shift or manually shift into any other gears although the shifter moves freely .The fluid is clean and full . Is this caused by the PCM or is there something other that could cause the problem? . Their is no check engine lite on .
