Both engine lights came dash board blinking on and off. When I turned on heat to high temperature it dropped it back down.

You have described multiple symptoms here, and I cannot tell if there is any relation among them. I just have to suggest local testing to figure out what is going on here. It could be an overheating issue, could be a temperature control issue, could be an engine performance or emissions control issue. Just too hard to figure based off of your concern description.
