Drove the 90 cad deville from Newport ,TN to Brunswick, GA Ran like a dream, smooth, 30 miles per gal. After a week at Bwk it started running rugged, sounded like a large clunk and jerked, smoothed out, water was 1gal.and half down, filled her up with water twice more. Next time I drove it the hood blanket caught fire just above the generater.. Parked her in the yard. Rented a car for trip back toTn. Will return to GA. this June to try and figure it out. I, am 82 and will have some fun with it. Any ideas where to start? I am an old carb. man. Bought an obd 1 to take back. The 50/50 anti freeze was out of balance for one thing so I will start with a flush out, check thermostat, etc Thanks for any help your can offer, Stan

Sounds like you may have fun, I would start with a pressure test of cooling system and look for any external leaks. Sounds more likely that you have a internal leak, possible head gasket issue. Even if didn't having gotten it hot enough to burn insulating blanket you may have one now. I have a customer with a Cadillac of that vintage that did head gaskets on a few years ago.
