What is your question?
So my rod bearing was loose from lack of oil I’m guessing and I’m wondering if I could just buy a rebuild kit and rebuild my motor instead of buying a whole new motor.
How long has your 2009 Cadillac CTS had this problem?
A year

Hi! this is Bo with Car Genius at RepairPal! YES! You can definitely rebuild your engine instead of buying a new one. There are all kinds of rebuild kits available! These kits typically include components like pistons & rings, bearings, and a full sealing set with upper and lower gaskets. However, it’s important to note that rebuilding an engine requires a good amount of mechanical knowledge and skill. If you’re comfortable with this, then it could be a cost-effective solution. If not, you might want to consider hiring a professional to do the job to ensure it’s done. Also, keep in mind that the cause of the loose rod bearing should be properly diagnosed. While lack of oil could be a cause, there could be other factors involved as well. It’s always a good idea to get a professional opinion before proceeding with major engine work.
